D/A converter D-09 (or “Pebble”, as it was internally referred to during development) is the youngest Audial DAC, which makes traditionally natural and enjoyable sonic qualities of Audial DACs more affordable than ever.

Due to its four inputs (one USB and three S/PDIF: true 75 Ohm BNC, RCA and optical Toslink), a D-09 DAC is also a natural choice for anyone seeking for cost effective but quality center of the audio system, a place that nowadays gets taken rather by the DACs than by classic preamplifiers.

Two PLL modes

Audial is proud to offer D-09 as a first device of this kind that lets user choose between two PLL modes: traditional one, which locks on the S/PDIF data, and another one that locks on the S/PDIF frame preamble, which does not vary with data, and is thus able to significantly suppress data related jitter of suboptimal S/PDIF sources.

Galvanically decoupled USB front end

The D-09 USB front end is transformer coupled to the rest of the unit, so source PC gets never galvanically connected to the audio chain. A PC integration into the audio system becomes this way easy and trouble free. In addition, a D-09 has an S/PDIF output too, so it can be also used as a USB to S/PDIF converter.

Discrete, zero feedback, A class, highly linear output stage

D-09 analog output stage is far beyond anything previously seen not only at this price range, but also way above. D-09 output stage is a discrete circuit comprising two transistors at signal path, and it applies no global feedback - yet its linearity is 0.008% at full level, and 0.003% at -6dBFS! In addition, all the supplies are using discrete, zero feedback, low noise regulators. So, there are no opamps, and no three pin IC regulators inside!

The other D-09 main features are:

● Multibit D/A conversion (Philips TDA1387 DAC chip)

● Non over- and non up-sampling, for no compromise transient response

● High quality parts - toroidal mains transformer with internal electrostatic shield, Schottky rectifiers, Allen Bradley signal resistors, Panasonic FM and PPS, and Rubycon ZA and Black Gate N capacitors

● State of the art PCB layout

● Solid and compact machined and brushed aluminum chassis with maple sidewalls, and with all the markings engraved
