This was my second visit to Budapest in a few months, and this one had a clear purpose: the David Byrne "Who Is The Sky?" tour concert.
I do not think that Talking Heads' or Byrne's recordings particularly strike audiophiles, and I am not aware that they ever did, except possibly for Naked. They were simply a different kind of recordings, made by people, including Brian Eno, with different kinds of priorities — but they remain masterpieces in their own right.
Still, listening to Byrne live for the first time — and I may be rather late with this insight — I think one has to hear him this way to fully understand his genius. He remains simple and amusing, yet totally convincing and powerful. If you have a chance to catch Who Is The Sky? somewhere, do not miss it. Just go.
